What is the Rental Gallery?

Our Rental Gallery is the most unique feature of Sunset Hill Shooting Range. We have over 120 firearms including small caliber pistols, all the way up to our Barrett M99 .50 Caliber Sniper Rifle. We also offer trap shooting, full auto machine guns and a 37mm grenade launcher. All are on display throughout our 36 lane Rental Gallery for you to see and shoot. (And we’re always adding new guns to the lineup!). Next, we provide you and your group with your own personal Certified Instructor. Your Instructor acts as your tour guide and personal Safety Officer as you explore the many different options.

I have no shooting experience. Is that a problem?

Not at all. Our facility is extremely beginner friendly. In our Rental Gallery, we provide you (and your group, if applicable) with a Certified Instructor. Your Instructor acts as your tour guide and personal Safety Officer. The Instructor adapts to each person’s level of expertise. If you provide them with a starting point on your previous experience, even if that point is 0, they will adjust from there, and make sure you have a safe and enjoyable time. What’s the difference between the Rental Gallery and your VIP Experiences?

Both are instructor-led, beginner-friendly, and designed to deliver an exciting, memorable shooting experience.

With our Rental Gallery, you and your group are paired with a Certified Instructor and choose what you want to shoot from our huge selection of firearms. It’s flexible, fun, and for a first-time shooter, an incredible adrenaline rush all by itself!

Our VIP Experiences take that excitement up a few notches with dedicated semi-private shooting bays, specially selected firearms, and pre-designed packages featuring some of our biggest and most iconic guns.

Think of it this way: the Rental Gallery lets you create your own shooting adventure; VIP turns that adventure into a semi-private, high-adrenaline event.

Either way, you’re in for an experience that’s uniquely Sunset Hill — and a whole lot of fun!

Can I come by myself and shoot on the rental gallery?

No. Our rental range rules require all renters to be accompanied by at least one additional shooter.

Is a deposit required when I book an appointment on the rental gallery?

Yes. Effective 5/28/2022, all Rental Gallery appointments will require a deposit. Amount of deposit is based on group size. We established an appointment system in 2020 in response to the Covid 19 pandemic as a way to create social distancing during the check-in process. In the two years since then, we have worked hard to make it a true appointment system. Most groups with an appointment are on the range within 20 minutes of their reservation. Unfortunately, many people have taken advantage of the “no deposit required” booking system. We have been inundated with “no shows” and double bookings. For this reason, we were forced to implement deposits required on all bookings.

If I make an appointment, is my deposit refundable if I cancel or reschedule?

Yes. If you cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment time, you will receive a full refund of your deposit. You can reschedule your appointment to any available time slot in the future as long as you do so at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time. You cannot reschedule for a future date within 24 hours of your appointment.

How much does the Rental Gallery cost?

The cost of our Rental gallery is based on which firearms (and how many) you choose to shoot. We do not charge you lane fees. We do not charge you to rent the guns. We do not charge you for your Certified Instructor. You simply pay for the bullets that you shoot – priced by the magazine. Number of rounds per magazine varies based on caliber and firearm. The Rental Gallery Price List is available on our website.

I looked at your Rental Gallery Price List on your website and the prices per round (bullet) seem high?

Yes, our price is a little higher than just a box of ammo at the local sporting goods store, but our price includes the whole experience. We provide the shooting lane, access to over 120 firearms, and a Certified Instructor who assists you and your group the entire time you are on our range. There are no time limits or hourly charges. We calculate your bill by charging for the bullets you shoot out of each firearm.

We are the most unique shooting experience in Pennsylvania. At the other ranges, if you’re not bringing your own firearm(s), they charge you for every facet of the range: shooting lane fees, gun rental charges, boxes of ammunition, etc. And if you want a private instructor, it can run as much as $70 per hour. Here at Sunset Hill Shooting Range, our Rental Gallery is geared toward the new or casual shooter, and everything is included for your safety and convenience!

Do I need to book more than 1 hour?

If you are making a reservation for our Rental Gallery, you do not need to book for more than one hour, regardless of the size of your group. Once you are on the Range with your Certified Instructor, you can shoot as long as you want, up to closing.

Can I shoot your guns on the Rental Gallery AND bring my own guns?

Yes, you can do both, subject to restrictions. We recommend that you book your appointment through our RENTAL GALLERY first, since that fills up the fastest, especially on weekends. Leave your personal firearms in your vehicle until you are finished on the Rental Gallery. Let our Pro Shop staff know that you want to shoot on our Private Range when you are finished on Rental Gallery when you are checking in. When you are finished on Rental Gallery, check out, remind the Pro Shop staff that you are going to shoot your personal firearms now, and retrieve your firearms from your vehicle. (Be sure to follow our guidelines for bringing your firearms into our Pro Shop.) When you return to the Pro Shop, the staff will check you in for your Private Range session.
